Membership in the Saint Andrew's Society is open to men of Scottish birth or ancestry. Applicants for membership must demonstrate lineal descent from a forebear born in Scotland and must be sponsored by two members of the Society. Membership categories include Resident, Non-Resident, Life, Inactive and Honorary. Any member who has been an active member in good standing for five or more consecutive years and who contributes to the Invested Assets of the General Fund of the Society an amount, in one sum, equal to ten times the current annual dues, or any member who has been an active member in good standing for twenty-five or more consecutive years and who is sixty-five years of age or older, may become a life member of the Society. Life members shall not be required to pay any dues, but shall have all the rights and privileges of, and be subject to all other provisions of these by-laws as are applicable to active members.
Society Member Final Honors: The St. Andrew's Society of Washington, D.C. will provide the following services for deceased members when requested by their families: piper for the church or grave side ceremony and the use of newspaper obituary emblem of the Society (Washington Post emblem #130).
