Scottish-American Women’s Society

The Society is proud to support the  Scottish-American Women’s Society (SAWS) of Washington, D.C.!  SAWS conducted its inaugural meeting in June 2017, and in early 2022, SAWS formally registered as a
501(c)(3).

SAWS offers full membership to any female born in Scotland or who can document their Scottish ancestry. Associate memberships are available to any female that cannot yet trace their ancestry to Scotland, and to those that simply love all things Scottish.

SAWS exists to educate its members and the general public about Scottish and Scottish-American history, culture, and traditions; to celebrate the contributions of Scots and Scottish-Americans in the United States; to promote, preserve, and perpetuate Scottish heritage, traditions, and customs; and to enhance the bonds between Scotland and North America, in particular the Washington, D.C. area. Through monthly in-person and online networking events, and Scottish-inspired activities throughout the year, SAWS encourages the exchange of ideas, and supports Scottish-focused artistic, literary, and cultural endeavors and activities with particular focus on women and their perspectives. Many SAWS members have advanced knowledge, training, and expertise in various aspects of Scottish culture, history, and heritage, and are available to speak, demonstrate, or entertain at Scottish or Celtic-
focused events.

Membership applications and more information about SAWS and their activities are available on their website at www.ScottishWomenDC.org or find SAWS on Facebook. For questions, please email ScottishWomenDC@gmail.com.
